Position Overview
As part of the Data Science and Data Analysis (DSDA) team, you will play a key role in developing and optimizing software-driven solutions that tackle complex challenges and enhance system performance in the rapidly expanding Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) industry.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing and dynamic team, where you will work closely with lab equipment, modeling engineers, data scientists, and software engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, data scientists, and battery engineers to advance BESS technology.
Independently set up and operate battery test equipment to evaluate Li-Ion battery cells and packs.
Develop and automate test execution using Arbin, LabVIEW, Arduino, Python, or other relevant tools.
Define Design Validation Plan (DVP) test procedures, including instrumentation, data acquisition, and post-processing methodologies.
Design and execute test cases to validate BESS performance and reliability.
Maintain and troubleshoot lab test setups, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Analyze BESS operational characteristics and generate insights using data analysis techniques.
Develop tools for extracting trends from diverse datasets and extrapolating meaningful insights.
Work with test equipment vendors for maintenance, calibration, and new technology integration.
Occasionally travel to BESS deployment sites to conduct field testing and gather real-world performance data.
Job Requirements
1+ yrs of hands-on experience in working with lab/test equipment, meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
1+ yrs of experience with software/script development for data analysis.
Strong experience setting up fixtures and simple and/or complex automation.
Proficiency using Python or Matlab to analyze large datasets.
Experience with using databases - MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux environments.
Previous battery testing experience or experience working with electrical subsystems.
Knowledge of BMS, power electronics, inverters, or energy storage.
Familiarity with CAN bus, Modbus, or other industrial communication protocols.
Familiarity with battery safety standards (UL 9540, UL 1973, IEC 62619).
Experience with battery cycling, knowledge of battery degradation analysis, and thermal testing.
Knowledge of Big Data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or Python visualization libraries)
