Position: Buyer
Pay Rate: $32.06- $38.19/hr
Duration: 3 months
Schedule: 8am-5pm, 5 days/week
SUMMARY:
Under general supervision as a team member supporting simple procurement projects, responsible for straightforward contracts, product specifications, and bids for basic goods and services.

Ensures purchase orders protect agency's interests and uphold policies and procedures.
Develops understanding of internal customer's budgeting needs and procedures; provides pricing estimates for line items.
Reviews requisitions for funding availability and account code accuracy.
Reviews and assesses scopes of work and specifications; prepares Requests for Quotes and Invitation for Bids; evaluates bids and quotations; participates in evaluation committee meetings and may conduct vendor interviews.
Customer & External Focus: Markets his/her workgroup effectively and influences others in the organization.
Offers input in developing specifications and scopes of work; determines appropriate procurement methods and develops individual procurement schedules.
Works in a Collaborative Manner with Others: Works in a collaborative manner with others, helps resolve unproductive conflict.
Negotiates and issues basic contracts and purchase orders; prepares basic contract amendments, revisions, and close-outs.
Confers with customers to get information, resolve questions
Drives for Results: Operates with speed and intensity, translates long-term goals into immediate actions.
Analyzes purchasing history of inventory parts, goods, and services.
Determines or recommends awards of bids.
Expedites purchase orders deliveries.
QUALIFICATION GUIDE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration with a minimum of three years of professional governmental purchasing experience.
