The Engineering Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the engineering team, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves managing a team of engineers, coordinating with other departments, and implementing process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency. The Engineering Supervisor will also ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Be familiar with Worker's Compensation, ISO certification and practice requirements, and governmental related safety practices, such as OSHA, UL508A, NFPA and NEC. Develop and implement procedures to meet these requirements as necessary.
Analyze, develop, and implement work procedures and standards to expedite the flow of project work and meet schedules and improve department efficiencies. Enforce procedures and processes as necessary.
Provide support to the estimating team on resources and scope for quoting needs, including but not limited to: Customer relationship building, Scope definition, Cost modeling, and Proposal delivery and closeout activities.
In conjunction with the Project Manager, review tasks and responsibilities of staff members considering competencies and scheduling demands. Discuss all pertinent customer-related information related to the project with affected parties (account managers, team members, etc.).
Assist the Project Manager with monitoring the progress and/or status of all projects. Make recommendations as needed to achieve desired results. Ensure any changes which may be needed for reference (or invoicing) in the future are documented and communicated. Discuss with internal customers as to status of projects and expected roles.
Upon customer acceptance of project, resolve any technical issues or concerns prior to project implementation. Promptly respond to any concern or question in a knowledgeable, friendly and business-like way.
Authorize part ordering for projects after successful completion of design review and participate in FAT review.
Conduct periodic staff meetings that establish and maintain an agenda that serves to keep people informed of business need-to-know information, as needed.
Become the subject matter expert of the QuotePlan system, approve requests for paid and non-paid time off to ensure adequate department staffing, and handle weekly timesheet approvals through QuotePlan.
Actively participate in the hiring process by reviewing resumes, telephone or virtual screening, and personal interviews.
Develop and implement comprehensive onboarding programs to ensure new employees are effectively integrated into the company. Conduct training sessions to familiarize new hires with company policies, procedures, and systems. Provide ongoing support and mentorship to help new employees succeed in their roles. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
Conduct and document monthly Performance Development Plans of staff. Provide input for discussing individual performance issues, how to improve performance, and where performance meets or exceed expectations. Provide ongoing support for staff development of knowledge and skills ensuring a growth oriented mindset.
Direct to Engineering Manager if coaching and training efforts prove unsuccessful and present recommendation for Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) or disciplinary actions, include documentation of actions taken.
Present compensation recommendations to Engineering Manager for team. Provide performance-related rationale for these recommendations.
Perform the work of others in the department when needed workload demands cannot be achieved under normal scheduling of priorities of existing staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associates orBA/BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
Experience and/or Training: Minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering/project management role, with at least 3 years in a supervisory position. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills (listening, questioning, speaking). Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
