About the Role - Our growing data center campus in Goodyear Arizona is looking for a Critical Facilities Operations Manager responsible for a team of 10-15 Critical Engineering Technicians. This position will oversee workflow management, training plans, customer communications, hiring and performance management for the CET team. The Critical Facilities Manager will use their expertise to help guide the team in challenging aspects of maintenance in areas such as: critical MOP development, testing plans, sparing approaches, capital planning, end-of-life replacement and expansion of existing facilities while eliminating risk to our customers and their businesses.
Responsibilities
Train Critical Engineering Technicians (CETs), as appropriate, in new processes and procedures
Direct and maintain the site-specific preventive maintenance and work order program
Work with cross function teams on projects to further develop the facilities or business
Understand the engineering and operational aspects of the building systems; recognize system performance deficiencies immediately and respond to operational and emergency situations
Suggest cost-effective improvements to service and operating efficiency
Ensure the availability of an adequate inventory
Protect and improve the value of our assets and ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their expected life
Organize administrative functions related to site operations, such as work orders and maintenance activities, budgets, etc.
Assist with the preparation of operational and capital portions of the budget
Ensure major projects performed at the building are properly planned, executed, and closed out in accordance with current best practices in our industry
Oversee the activities of contractors
Assist with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field, or equivalent work experience required
6+ years of experience in critical facilities
Advanced understanding of the electrical or mechanical systems
Involved in critical data center operations such as: feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units. PDU units, pumps, air handling units and CRAC units
5+ years of direct managerial experience and interpersonal skills strongly preferred
Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service
Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and building automation
Physical Requirements/Considerations
Work at heights and from ladders
Perform physical tasks, including moving heavy equipment (50 pounds), operating critical infrastructure, crawling in tight spaces
Work in a noisy environment with ear protection and eye protection
Work in a critical environment with potential for high stress decision making
Perform extended site rounds that could include long distances of walking and long periods of time being away from a desk
