The Town of Mashpee Department of Natural Resources welcomes applications for Seasonal Shellfish Technicians; $20.00/hour. Position works up to 37.5 hours/week including weekends, holidays, and some evenings as applicable with changing tides. The position seasonally begins late-May, however applications will continue to be considered throughout the season or until all positions have been filled. Positions could run through early-October dependent upon applicants seasonal availability.
Minimum Requirements: High School Graduate or GED. Knowledge of shellfish aquaculture; or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Knowledge of boating, waterway and shellfish laws, Mashpee Town By-laws. Must be a minimum age of eighteen (18). Must possess a valid MA driver's license (Class D) and MA Boating Safety Certification. Must possess current CPR and First Aid Certifications or obtain upon appointment. Must successfully pass a C.O.R.I. background check.
Responsibilities: Assists the Department of Natural Resources with general and technical work relating to aquaculture and propagation of shellfish, protection of the shellfishery, and other related work as required. May also assist with Water Quality sampling and monitoring.
