POSITION SUMMARY:



The Director of Writing Support oversees writing support services within the Weinstein Learning Center at the University of Richmond. This position creates, implements, and leads various writing support services and innovating programs to support all students. This role will supervise a Writing Consultant team consisting of trained peer educators. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of the Weinstein Learning Center, the Director of Writing Support will contribute to the overall mission and strategy of the Weinstein Learning Center in providing best-in-class academic support for all students. This position collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to meet student and campus needs related to writing support.




The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a passion for peer education, an innovator for providing writing support, and a strong collaborator with the ability to manage many services and programs.





WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:





  • Office environment with some evening and weekend work required for events and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:





  • Expert knowledge and practical experience in writing support, tutoring, and peer educator training.


  • Experience with CRLA Tutor Training Certification or other relevant certifications and accreditations.


  • Proven experience in program management, strategic planning, and data analysis.


  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students and external partners




  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and dialogue skills.


  • Ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into actionable strategies.


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and build collaborative relationships across diverse constituencies.





Education & experience:





  • Terminal degree in a related field (e.g., education, social sciences, rhetoric and communications, English language and literature, organizational development) is preferred. An equivalent combination of academic or teaching experience and education (master's degree) will be considered.




  • 5+ years of experience in writing center, learning center, or academic support leadership.





WORK SCHEDULE:




Full-time, exempt position




Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week; some evening and weekend work may be required for events and programs.






SALARY STRUCTURE:



Pay Grade 9 ($74,672.00 to $113,868.00 annually)
