Job Responsibilities:
Magna is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the New Mobility group in Lowell, Massachusetts. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating electrical and electronic systems for our Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineers, to create robust and high-performance robotic solutions. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency in our products.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of electrical architectures for autonomous mobile robots.
Design and integrate power distribution, motor control, sensor interfaces, and communication systems.
Develop schematics, PCB layouts, and oversee the fabrication and assembly of electrical components.
Evaluate and select electrical components, including microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators.
Work with firmware and software teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical and control systems
Optimize cost, weight, modularity, and scalability.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent Experience.
6+ years' relevant experience.
Strong understanding of motor control systems, power electronics, and embedded hardware design
Experience with Altium or similar ECAD tool for PCBA and/or harness design
Experience with communication protocols like CAN, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience integrating actuators and motor controllers
Experience integrating various sensors (e.g. lidar, cameras, etc.)
Hands-on experience in wiring and harnessing (e.g. IPC/WHMA-A-620).
