Wood is recruiting for a Process Engineering Subject Matter Expert to join its Life Sciences business. This opportunity is hybrid.

The Role


Wood is currently seeking a Process Engineering Subject Matter Expert to join our Life Sciences team to work at either the Morrisville, NC or Plymouth Meeting, PA offices a minimum of three (3) days per week. We are looking for a professional who has extensive knowledge and expertise in the Life Sciences sector. The SMEs are known for their ability to provide expert advice, guidance, and support. They possess years of experience and formal education in their subject area, and responsible for providing expert level knowledge and advice, acting as a resource to others within Wood and prospective or active clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Typical responsibilities



  • Provides guidance and advice to stakeholders on the development and design of projects

  • Participates in the generation of leads, proposals and client interviews for new projects.

  • Provides guidance and advice to stakeholders on business development, sales, and marketing in Life Sciences.

  • Conducts research and analysis to support Wood's goals and objectives

  • Develops and delivers training programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of employees.

  • Communicates technical solutions and requirements to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner

  • Tests and evaluates the impact of technical solutions on Wood's operations

  • Provides expert advice on compliance and engineering standards

  • Contributes specialized knowledge to improve processes and documentation

  • Supports project management activities by providing expert advice, guidance and active participation when necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:

  • An advanced degree(s) in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or Mechanical Engineering; PhD preferred.

  • Minimum of 20 years' of direct Life Sciences experience and at least 30 years of overall industrial experience.

  • English is their primary language, highly competent in verbal and written communications, other languages are a plus.

  • Has participated in being mentored by an industry leader and can mentor 1 to 4 members of the Wood's staff.

  • Active participation in at least one (1) recognized technical/professional Society: ISPE, PDA, ASME, BPSA, BPOG, ASTM or ISO.

  • Has the skills to work in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and Power point; understands Share Point and Teams; and can review projects in Revit.

  • Has the background and experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and process simulation (Schedule Pro, Super Pro and FlexSIM, Ansys) and can direct modelling of processes within these platforms.

  • Highly motivated and a self-starter requiring minimal supervision.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.




Desirable:



  • Has held a Committee Chairman position and/or participated on the Board of Directors of a technical/professional Society.

  • Has written and published articles pertinent to Life Sciences within the past 10 years.

  • Has participated in formal presentations in Life Sciences within the past 10 years.

  • Has taught at a college or University class(es) in Life Science subject(s).

  • Holding patents in equipment or methods relative to Life Sciences is a plus.
