New England Biolabs invites applications for a Postbaccalaureate Fellow in the Ong lab. Recent college graduates are given an opportunity to spend one year at NEB performing full-time research. Research will be undertaken in a highly collaborative and academic environment and will offer motivated and talented students an opportunity to confirm their interest in basic and applied research.
The Post-baccalaureate Fellow will work directly with NEB scientists as part of a research program on Protein Engineering.
Post-baccalaureate Fellows will have the opportunity to gain professional experience in a modern biotechnology setting, including:
Research experience in a rapidly developing, high impact area
Participate in a variety of scientific activities, including scientific seminars
Receive exposure to the upcoming trends in science and technology
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and execute complex molecular biology workflows, including PCR, DNA assembly, mutagenesis, and high-throughput enzyme assays
Maintain detailed records
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in biological science, must be recent within last 4 years
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior research experience in a lab setting (as part of a course or research program)
Automation and computational experience a plus
Excellent interpersonal skills and an aptitude for learning
Strong scientific curiosity, integrity, creativity and self-motivation.
Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
