Description: Our client is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager for their operations south of Fresno CA. The QA Manager will oversee and maintain the company Quality Systems programs at the plant. Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. "Food Safety and Quality" are the responsibilities of this position. Responsible for ensuring that products meet standards set by both company and regulatory authorities. Develop and review quality and food safety policies and manage audits by third-party inspectors. Manage and train quality assurance employees and oversee manufacturing and production processes. In the Absence of the Quality Assurance Manager, responsibilities will be covered by the Quality Assurance Supervisor with the assistance of the Director of Manufacturing Quality.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Microbiology Testing: Review daily microbiology test results and investigate any high counts.
Load-Out Data: Verify that all loads meet specifications and review load-out data.
Out-of-Spec Products: Track and report any out-of-spec products to the Plant Manager and Assistant Plant Manager.
Powder and Butter C of A's: Approve and release powder shipments, reclassify powder as needed, and follow up on out-of-spec butter.
HACCP Compliance: Review daily HACCP sheets and ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP pre-requisite programs, and Preventive Controls.
Training: Train new hires and conduct annual refresher training on GMP, HACCP, BIO-SECURITY, and ALLERGEN programs.
In-Process Sheets: Review daily in-process sheets from fluid, butter, powder, and packaging departments.
Department Checks: Conduct daily checks of each department and report issues to management.
GMP Compliance: Ensure employee compliance with GMP standards.
Audits and Inspections: Accompany inspectors and auditors, assist with equipment checks, and audit state seals.
Quality Assurance: Review and audit Quality Assurance Technicians' testing techniques and procedures.
Equipment Calibration: Oversee equipment calibrations and audit sampling techniques.
Wastewater Management: Check the wastewater facility daily, oversee sampling, and maintain required documentation.
Reports: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by permits.
CIP Records: Review CIP records daily and investigate any cleaning issues.
Training and Performance: Oversee job training for new Quality Assurance Technicians, provide training, and conduct performance reviews.
Lab Management: Generate lab technician schedules, maintain inventory, and oversee calibration of testing equipment.
Environmental Monitoring: Oversee the Environmental Microbiological Monitoring program.
Problem Solving: Troubleshoot problems and seek assistance when needed.
Safety and Compliance: Follow and enforce all safety and working rules.
Team Collaboration: Maintain positive relationships with co-workers, management, customers, vendors, and employees.
Attendance and Initiative: Maintain excellent attendance and use initiative and judgment in decision-making.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Management: Supervise hiring, firing, discipline, performance evaluations, and documentation.
Training Coordination: Coordinate on-the-job training and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Scheduling: Oversee employee and temporary labor scheduling, review time sheets, and address overtime.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Dairy or Food Science or a related field, plus four years of leadership experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
College-level verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate daily with upper management.
Experience in leadership, team development, coaching, and/or teaching.
Proficiency in math and statistical analysis.
Excellent computer skills for data input, report writing, and program tracking.
Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
Proficiency in English, with well-modulated tonal volume and excellent diction.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to discern when issues require input from higher levels of authority within the corporation.
Certification from the State as a Certified Industry Supervisor for Appendix N drug residue testing.
