Your Role: Scientist - Quality Control Lab
The Quality Control Laboratory (QCL) Scientist provides technical support to laboratory operations, manages and executes lab-related projects, and identifies areas for assay improvement. This role includes coordinating non-routine analytic work and sample analysis to support projects, as well as routine testing of in-process and final product samples for veterinary vaccine release. The scientist will also be responsible for maintaining and updating testing documents, supporting documents, regulatory documents, and quality control procedures, ensuring adherence to site and regulatory guidelines.
Your Responsibilities:
Ensures adherence to all safety policies and procedures, proactively identifies and mitigates safety risks, and sets a positive example for safety practices within the laboratory environment.
Develops and maintains procedures compliant with Elanco and regulatory standards, identifies and mitigates compliance risks, thoroughly investigates assay issues and atypical laboratory results to determine root causes, and implements effective corrective and preventative actions, documenting findings in detailed reports.
Actively cultivates a culture of continuous improvement within laboratory operations, transforming processes while adhering to site quality systems and guidelines, and leads continuous improvement initiatives and projects in the QC Laboratory, collaborating with external resources as necessary.
Designs, conducts, and oversees the execution of laboratory experiments, including investigations, analytical method development, validation, and transfer, provides technical guidance on analytical topics, method improvements, troubleshooting, and regulatory initiatives, and delivers effective training for Quality Control Technicians.
Performs required tests on bulk antigens, final products, and raw materials to meet company and laboratory objectives, maintains accurate testing records in compliance with regulations, compares test results against prescribed parameters, reports findings to relevant departments, and collaborates with Quality Control Management to develop and execute short, medium, and long-term goals for the laboratory.
What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences or related field with a minimum of 3 years of quality and/or laboratory experience or Master of Science degree in biological sciences.
Knowledge in virology, bacteriology, molecular biology, and serology is required.
Good documentation practices, including the ability to write, follow and comprehend a written procedure.
What Will Give You the Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent planning and organizing skills, as well as proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Experience in managing assigned projects, working independently and within a team, to deliver projects on time.
Additional Information:
Requires the use of personal protective equipment.
Must be able to pass background check and gain Select Agent clearance.
May require some off hours and weekend work.
Completion of Post Offer Exam, Completion of Work Simulation or Completion of Administrative Skills Testing if applicable.
