Summary of Role:
Reporting to the Vice President of the Communications Infrastructure and Datacenter End Market at GLOBALFOUNDRIES, the Optical Communications Business Lead will have subject matter expertise in
1. Communications architecture for datacenters 2. System architecture for optical transceivers 3. Supplier ecosystem for optical transceivers
The Optical Communications Business Lead targets optical communications applications within the Datacenter end market. Rapid advances in artificial intelligence (AI) are driving increased adoption of advanced networking architectures within datacenters requiring deep domain and thought leadership to help GF develop winning platforms for this market. This position will provide thought leadership for GF and complex multi-year business negotiations with customers.
Essential responsibilities:
Understand market dynamics and requirements for Optical Communications applications within the Communications Infrastructure and Datacenter end markets.
Develop customer engagements in partnership with the GLOBALFOUNDRIES Commercial organization to understand client's products, product roadmaps and corresponding technology needs.
Identify the GLOBALFOUNDRIES solution for Optical Communications applications including technology platform, differentiating feature(s), design IP and ecosystem enablement that best serves customer needs and drive adoption.
Define the market requirements for new technology features, design IP and ecosystem enablement to be developed in accordance with market needs.
Drive ownership and accountability in responsible organizations such as Commercial, Product Line, Manufacturing Fab and Supply Chain to deliver to market needs.
Create and deploy compelling presentation collateral to articulate the value of GLOBALFOUNDRIES' solutions to the customer and end-users to drive adoption.
Drive design win targets and create detailed customer engagement plans to achieve them.
Create a sense of urgency and drive clarity across multi-functional teams to achieve business objectives. Identify issues and address them head-on using data to move complex multi-site programs forward.
Develop strategic relationships with customers and eco-system partners to achieve success across a 5+ year horizon.
Serve as a champion of GLOBALFOUNDRIES optical networking solutions with strong external presence at technology conferences, trade shows, webinars etc.

Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
7+ Years of Experience in either datacenter network architecture, optical transceiver product development/management or semiconductor product development/management
Knowledge of datacenter network architecture and optical communications standards
The individual will need to possess broad technical and business skills to be successful in the role
Travel Requirements: 25% of travel
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Deep domain expertise in optical communications protocols including high speed Ethernet (IEEE 802.3) and InfiniBand and multi-source agreements such as SFP, OSFP and OIF
Deep domain expertise in optical module development
Language: Fluency in a second language to support high growth markets
Expected Salary Range
$131,900.00 - $263,000.00
