The Medtronic Memphis Airways site is a dynamic and innovative facility dedicated to advancing medical technology and improving patient outcomes. Located in the heart of Memphis, this site is a hub for cutting-edge manufacturing and engineering, playing a crucial role in the production of life-saving medical devices. We're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer I to join our team at the Memphis Airways site. As a Manufacturing Engineer I, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the development of innovative medical devices that make a difference in patients' lives.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.

  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.

  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.

  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

  • Source, purchase, make plans and schedules for the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods, and related material through production and inventory processes.

  • Ensure production, warehouse, and engineering personnel executes appropriate procurement, scheduling, and movement of materials and services.

  • Foster strategic initiatives, relationships, and communications with manufacturing and key suppliers to confirm production/shipping schedules and monitored open purchase orders for all orders to ensure on-time deliveries.

  • Analyze and influence material master data at the plant levels to support BOM, routings, and other production functions.

  • Maintain purchase order status and shipment tracking information in SAP systems.

  • Organize and update project timelines, ensuring milestones are on track.

  • Schedule meetings with stakeholders and team members.

  • Assign and track task progress using project management tools

  • Draft and send project updates to stakeholders.

  • Participate in daily or weekly check-ins to track progress.

  • Support cross-functional teams in aligning tasks with project goals.

  • Maintain efficiency by following up on pending action items.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 0+ years of relevant experience

Nice to Have


  • 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering role.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus.

  • Experience using SAP, MII, or Agile.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$67,200.00 - $100,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
