Overview:



The Associate Experience Specialist & HR Generalist is responsible for enhancing the associate experience from job offer through the first year of employment while also managing general HR functions within the manufacturing plant. This role will provide data-driven feedback to site leadership and BD Centers of Excellence to drive meaningful action related to associate experience and HR operations. The position will serve as a point of contact for new hires, ensuring their successful onboarding and assimilation, and will also handle various HR duties such as employee relations, compliance, and policy implementation.


This role is on site in Sumter, SC.



Primary Responsibilities - Associate Experience:



  • Provide proactive contact to new hires prior to their first day.

  • Actively participate in New Hire Orientation, introducing new hires to resources (Benefits Direct, IT, ADP, ASC, AccessHR, etc.).

  • Lead new hire touchpoints at designated intervals and follow up with direct supervisors on any findings.

  • Gather and compile data from new associate/supervisor 30-day meetings to identify trends and opportunities.

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers to improve selection and recruitment processes where turnover is higher than the plant average.

  • Provide monthly data to the site leadership team regarding common themes, opportunities, and proposed action plans to drive improvement.

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing site events, including leading the site activities committee, Service Awards banquet, and picnic.

  • Provide newsletter committee with introductory articles spotlighting new hires.

  • Drive associate experience in partnership with Associate Resource Groups (WIN, HOLA ARGs).

  • Coordinate, welcome, and gather data from interns.

  • Improve retention of associates with less than 1 year of service by 20%.






Primary Responsibilities - Human Resources Generalist:



  • Executes HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations.

  • Supports AccessHR in addressing employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.

  • Partners with Talent Acquisition to identify and execute strategies for recruitment efforts including recruiting and marketing events, talent selection and onboarding activities.

  • Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HR systems.

  • Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and employee inquiries.

  • Advises on training and capability needs and facilitates training initiatives as needed and directed

  • Guide, advise, coach and support front-line leaders on HR-related matters.

  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives to improve HR processes and systems.






Education and Experience:



  • Minimum Education: HSD/GED required; BA/BS Degree in Human Resources, Business, Education, Training, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum Experience: Three years of experience in a similar HR role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.






Knowledge and Skills:



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to influence without authority.

  • Demonstrated experience with project management (preferred).

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.






Work Environment:



  • BD is a smoke-free campus. Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy

  • False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals. Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor.

  • Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
