Volt is immediately hiring for a Freight Agent in Baytown, TX


As a Freight Agent you will:
• Manage and nurture relationships with shippers and carriers to foster long-term partnerships.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and service providers.
• Secure carrier capacity and coordinate freight brokerage operations.
• Negotiate freight rates and manage contracts with shippers and carriers.
• Utilize TMS platforms (SAP, Microsoft, Salesforce, or similar) to plan and track shipments.
• Maintain accurate shipment records, invoices, and delivery statuses in real time.
• Ensure shipments comply with FMCSA, DOT, and drayage-specific regulations.
• Proactively communicate with clients regarding shipment progress and issues.
• Troubleshoot logistics challenges, resolve disputes, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Manage multiple shipments simultaneously and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Collaborate with operations, accounting, and customer service teams.

This is a full-time Direct Hire opportunity.

The ideal candidate will have:
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven B2B sales experience in the freight/transportation industry.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Knowledge of TMS platforms and software proficiency.
• Understanding of FMCSA, DOT, and drayage-specific regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• The ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Pay Rate: $55,000 - $65,000 per year

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
