Purpose Statement

The Wastewater Assistant supports the Wastewater Operator and Production Manager in the daily operations and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities. This role involves assisting in monitoring, testing, and treatment processes to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.


Key Accountabilities and Outcomes


  • Assist the Wastewater Operator in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment and systems.

  • Monitor and record data from various treatment processes under the guidance of the Wastewater Operator and Production Manager.

  • Collect and analyze water samples for quality control.

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues.

  • Maintain accurate records and logs of operations and maintenance activities.

  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

  • Support the implementation of process improvements and efficiency measures.

  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.



Knowledge, Skills, and Experience


  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in wastewater treatment is a plus.

  • Basic understanding of wastewater treatment processes and equipment.

  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and standing for extended periods.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
