Role Description



Corporate Counsel - U.S. Petcare will be responsible for providing general legal support to the Petcare team within the U.S. Operations organization of Zoetis Inc. Reporting to the Senior Director, Lead Counsel for U.S. Petcare, this role will provide advice and legal counsel to colleagues across marketing and sales. The role will collaborate with colleagues across the legal function in areas such as compliance, regulatory, intellectual property, business development, litigation and more, and will work closely with a wide range of individuals within the U.S. Petcare organization.



Responsibilities

• Serve as strategic business partner to the U.S. Petcare commercial operations teams; provide general commercial advice and legal support to business organizations as needed.
  


• Negotiate and draft an extensive range of agreements, including purchase & sale, license, distribution, supply, service, consulting and employment, marketing and sales agreements, and other commercial contracts.
  


• Counsel and advise respective product and brand teams, provide regulatory law support, serve on the advertising & promotional review team; advise on risk management
  
  
  

Education and Experience

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, demonstrated academic achievement and current bar membership in good standing.


• 4-6+ years of legal experience required (meaningful time in private practice with prominent law firm strongly preferred; time working as in house counsel preferred, but not required).


• Must have significant commercial transaction experience, including demonstrated ability to review, analyze, negotiate and draft agreements.


• Knowledge of advertising laws preferred.


• Knowledge of antitrust laws preferred.


• Knowledge of FCPA and anti-bribery/anticorruption laws is a plus, but not required.

• Strong leadership, project management and interpersonal skills, including ability to interact well with senior management team.
  


• Sound and practical business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  


• Proactive, solutions-oriented business partner seeking to balance commercial needs with legal protections and risk mitigation.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Superior organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical Position Requirements

• Work with global teams located in multiple time zones.


• Hybrid working environment, with approximately 50% of time (2-3 work days per week) required on-site at the company's headquarters office in Parsippany, NJ.
