Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join our team on a temporary basis. This is an onsite position where you will be responsible for processing payroll for a diverse group of employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll processing, a strong understanding of payroll systems, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll for all employees in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy.
Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, management, and external agencies.
Prepare and maintain reports related to payroll, including tax filings, garnishments, and deductions.
Assist with new employee onboarding as it relates to payroll documentation.
Process payroll adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and retroactive pay as needed.
Support year-end payroll processing, including preparation of W-2 forms and related reporting.
Ensure the confidentiality and security of all payroll information.
Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to resolve payroll discrepancies and issues.
Requirements:
Proven experience in payroll processing (2+ years preferred).
Strong knowledge of payroll systems and software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks).
Understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with timekeeping software or HRIS systems.
Certification in payroll (e.g., CPP) is a plus.
Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-volume payroll environment.
