Job Summary:


We are seeking a skilled and motivated Category Advisor to join our Category Leadership team. The Advisor will be a strategic partner to Walmart merchants, driving category growth through analysis, planning, and collaboration. This role requires expertise in category health, shopper behavior, and market dynamics to develop, present, and execute strategies that enhance sales, profitability, and market share.



Responsibilities:

• Act as a thought leader and trusted advisor to Walmart's merchants by providing insights that influence category decisions through engaging dialogue, data analytics, and workflow management.


• Stay informed on industry trends and competitor activities to drive strategies that address market dynamics for the category.


• Develop and present category reviews to identify opportunities in macro-space, assortment optimization, promotions, and performance trends.


• Conduct opportunity gap analytics focusing on brand, consumer, shopper, and retailer performance.


• Identify performance root causes and develop compelling stories to drive action.


• Influence category strategy with fact-based recommendations supporting assortment and merchandising tactics.


• Utilize tools like Walmart Scintilla, Circana/Nielsen, and JDA Space Planning to identify opportunities for category expansion and optimization.


• Provide category reporting, analytics, decision support, and special project work to Walmart merchants.


• Lead modular relay projects in collaboration with the Modular Center of Excellence team to enhance shopper experience and maximize sales productivity.

Requirements:

• 
  Education: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, or related fields, or equivalent experience.


• 
  Experience: 5 years' experience in Category Management, Sales, Shopper Insights, Analytics, or Retail Management.


• 
  Foundational Skills: Strong leadership, customer management, and prioritization skills. Proven analytics and insights development aptitude using disparate data sources. Excellent storytelling and communication skills. Ability to influence stakeholders and execute strategies effectively. Strong business acumen with understanding of business operations, retail math, P&L drivers, and financial modeling.


• 
  Technical: Proficiency with Scintilla/Luminate, Nielsen, Circana, and Business Intelligence resources a plus. Solid skills in MS Office Suite, especially PowerPoint, Excel, PowerQuery, and PowerBI.


• Ideal candidate has experience leading end-to-end modular relay projects with Walmart.


• Approximately 10% travel required.
