Job Title: ControllerLocation: In-office at Minnetonka, MN HQ (Primary) with estimated 1 Day per week at Eagan FacilityReports To: CFO & OwnershipEmployment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (Flexible)Position Overview:Festivities is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and proactive Controller to join our leadership team. This in-person onsite role will provide financial oversight, accountability, and process streamlining across the companys financial operations. The Controller will support the CFO and ownership by managing key financial workflows, ensuring strong fiscal controls, being another source of mature leadership, and actively contributing to the company's overall success.You can be a bean counter anywhere. Key Responsibilities:Financial Oversight & AccountabilityServe as a central figure in managing all incoming and outgoing company funds, ensuring financial accuracy and transparency.Facilitate and monitor financial transactions through GoodShuffle Pro (event rental system), Shopify, eFlorist, Teleflora Dove, and other floral sales tools.Oversee weekly customer invoicing for post-payment accounts and send monthly account statements.Manage accounts receivable by tracking aging balances, following up on overdue accounts, and escalating as needed.Validate prepayment and pay-on-own customers in GoodShuffle Pro, ensuring accurate and timely payments.Monitor upcoming events at 21 days (proactive reminders), 14 days (final payment due), and 7 days (halt event production).Handle physical check processing by logging payments, updating systems, and making bank deposits.Expense & Accounts Payable ManagementEnsure oversight of all company expenses and work with internal teams to enforce documentation, approvals, and cost controls.Process and review vendor bills, ensuring accuracy before submission for approval and payment.Facilitate annual vendor contract negotiations to secure cost savings and favorable terms.Oversee and enforce compliance with AMEX receipt gathering and expense coding.Manage a new virtual card program (likely Ramp), issuing purchase approvals and enforcing receipt submission workflows.Oversee the Amazon Business Program, maintaining control over basic office and event-related expenses.Seek ways to reduce expenses without impacting operations.Budgeting & ReportingReport financial performance against budgets as directed by the CEO.Provide weekly financial and operational summaries to ownership and leadership related to purchasing, revenue trends, etc.Maintain a communication dashboard to update the CEO and leadership on financial and operational metrics.Operational & Leadership RoleServe as a positive, active hands-on leader and indirect manager who promotes accountability and strong financial practices across the team.Work alongside the bookkeeper to support the reconciliation process in QuickBooks Online (QBO).Ensure compliance with petty cash and emergency check utilization procedures.Assist the CFO in financial policy implementation and ongoing process improvement.Act as an extended manager on duty when needed, providing support to operations and stepping in as necessary to ensure smooth company functions.Jump in on overall company operations, demonstrating a collaborative mindset and willingness to support other teams when needed.Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in financial matters.Qualifications & Skills:2-3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related role.Small to mid-sized business experience preferred.Employee expense review and accountability experience preferred.Strong understanding of financial controls, cash flow management, and accounts payable/receivable.Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO), GoodShuffle Pro, and financial reporting tools (or ability to learn quickly).Experience with expense management tools like Ramp, AMEX, and virtual card programs preferred.Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.Strong communication skills and ability to hold team members accountable while maintaining a supportive leadership style.Solution-oriented, proactive, and adaptable, with a glass-half-full mindset.Demonstrated ability to protect company resources, streamline processes, and enforce financial discipline.A mature leader who is empathetic, collaborative, and always watching out for the companys best interests.Why Join Festivities?Be part of a growing, creative, and collaborative company where your financial leadership will be valued.Opportunity to work closely as part of a leadership team and to learn from ownership.Flexibility in employment structure (full-time or part-time options available).A dynamic and engaging work environment that values enthusiasm and team success.Company Culture & Ideal Candidate FitAt Festivities, we believe in creating eventful lives and transforming spaces into memorable experiences.
