Summary:
The General Maintenance Technician II will fix and maintain machines, mechanical equipment and buildings. This position will paint, repair flooring, and work on plumbing, electrical, heating, air-conditioning, and other hospital systems. This position completes scheduled preventive tasks in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations or department procedures. The technician initiates and completes work orders, parts requests and p.m.'s. This position repairs, replaces or installs equipment in estimated time frame and signs off discrepancies on round sheets. The General Maintenance Technician II operates and maintains many different types of equipment and keeps work areas and equipment in a clean, safe and orderly manner, uses blueprints, schematic drawings or manuals when troubleshooting, repairing, replacing or installing equipment or completing work orders. This position may assist in training and confirming the work of lower-level employees.
Work Schedule: 7:00 am -3:30 pm Sunday through Thursday
Essential Job Functions:
Performing tasks such as, but not limited to changing light bulbs, installing paper dispenser units, changing filters, changing locks, minor decorative maintenance and other tasks not requiring a licensed skilled trades person or journeyman.
Perform maintenance service or repairs in one or more skill areas, including minor plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs or installations, or vehicle servicing.
Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble.
May perform inventory activities and order replacement parts and equipment with management approval.
Assists skilled trade workers in one or more areas performing specific or standard duties to learn new skills as required for advancement and certification.
Serves as lead by performing maintenance service or repairs in one or more skill areas, including minor plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, pneumatic tubes, nurse call, medical gas, machine servicing, electrical repairs or installations, or vehicle servicing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), water treatment, boilers/chillers and building automation systems.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
