Job Description:

Scenic Run Crew for Trollwood's Mamma Mia Production

Trollwood Performing Arts School, a program of Fargo Public Schools, seeks Scenic Run Crew members for Trollwood's Mainstage Musical summer production of Mamma Mia. The Scenic Run Crew will be responsible for setting up and maintaining all scenic elements during technical rehearsals and performances, ensuring that the show runs smoothly and looks visually stunning for the audience. After the final performance, the Scenic Run Crew Member will transition to the role of Post-Performance Strike technicians, assisting in dismantling of scenic elements and assisting in the creation of final scenic supply inventories. The candidate must also adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of all crew members and equipment during performances and strike.

Dates: July 14 through August 7, 2025

Hourly Wage: $17 per hour

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in preparing the stage for all rehearsals and performances.
  2. Set up and strike all scenic elements for the production, including props, and furniture.
  3. Throughout the rehearsal and performance process, assist in performing routine maintenance and repairs on scenic elements as needed to ensure they are functioning properly.
  4. Assist in the load-in and load-out of scenic elements and equipment during rehearsals, performances, pre-show, and post-show.
  5. Attend all technical rehearsals and dress rehearsals to ensure that all scenic elements are properly functioning and in the correct positions.
  6. Work with the stage manager and other crew members to ensure that scene changes are executed efficiently and on time.
  7. Maintain a clean and safe working environment backstage, including organizing and storing props and equipment.
  8. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of all performers and crew members.
  9. Attend meetings, as required, and actively participate in all discussions regarding the production.
  10. The Post-Performance Strike Technician will assist with the leadership of the post-performance strike process beginning August 4, 2025. They will be responsible for leading a crew in dismantling and removing scenery, backdrops, props, and supplies used in the production while coordinating with other crew members.


Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate for this role should have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • The ideal candidate must maintain a positive attitude while adhering to safety protocols to ensure the safety of all crew members and equipment during performances and strike.
  • Experience working backstage in a theatrical production.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work day, evenings, and weekends, as scheduled, throughout the production week rehearsal process, brush up rehearsals, and performances.
