We are seeking a skilled Transmission Line Engineer to support transmission line design, maintenance engineering, and reliability improvements for our power delivery system. The ideal candidate will have experience with transmission line switches, LiDAR data analysis, and design tools such as PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE. This role will involve designing, assessing, and maintaining transmission infrastructure to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Transmission Line Design & Maintenance:
Develop, review, and optimize designs for existing transmission lines (overhead).
Support maintenance engineering efforts, ensuring reliability and extending asset life.
Evaluate aging infrastructure and recommend solutions for system improvements.
Technical Expertise & Analysis:
Perform structural and electrical analysis using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and other engineering software.
Analyze LiDAR data for route optimization, clearance verification, and structure loading assessments.
Specify and evaluate transmission line switches for operational flexibility and system reliability.
Conduct field assessments and provide technical guidance for transmission line projects.
Compliance & Standards:
Ensure designs adhere to NESC and other regulatory and utility-specific standards.
Support permitting, regulatory approvals, and right-of-way assessments.
Collaborate with environmental, safety, and operations teams to ensure compliance.
Collaboration & Project Support:
Work closely with area managers, field personnel, and support teams to implement solutions.
Coordinate with GIS and survey teams to integrate LiDAR data into design workflows.
Support outage planning, emergency response, and storm restoration efforts as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering (or related field).
3+ years of experience in transmission line design, maintenance, or related utility engineering.
Experience with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE is required.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in transmission line analysis, structure loading, and foundation design.
Knowledge of LiDAR data interpretation for transmission design applications.
Familiarity with transmission line switches, clearances, and equipment specifications.
Strong understanding of NESC and industry standards.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
PE license or EIT certification (or willingness to obtain).
Experience with utility or consulting firm transmission projects.

Job Location & Travel:
Based in Moncks Corner, with some travel for field visits, inspections, and project meetings.
