Our client is seeking to hire a rigging engineer for a 9 to 12-month contract, to assist with the planning, design, and implementation of rigging and lifting plans for a pipe rack construction project in Lebanon, IN. The position will be full-time on site, interfacing with Summit construction personnel, the client, and subcontractors.
Major responsibilities include the following: • Design and develop lifting plans for all crane picks on project, including piping, equipment, structural steel, and modular assemblies. • Analyze crane capacities under a variety of rigging and lifting arrangements, and verify that all picks are within safe working criteria as specified by crane and rigging specifications. • Coordinate with the Summit design team to create sketches, diagrams, and drawings depicting the layout of picks. • Calculate weights of items to be lifted, including fabricated structural steel assemblies, piping spools, and completed pipe rack modules. • Complete center of gravity calculations for assemblies including structural steel, piping, and electrical cable tray. • Assist in the development of safety plans for picks and ensure compliance with client and national safety standards. • Coordinate with client rigging engineers and site supervision to gain approval of lift plans. • Coordinate with Summit construction superintendents to plan and schedule future crane picks.
Minimum candidate requirements include: • Bachelor of science degree in structural engineering preferred, but not required • Minimum 3 years of experience performing rigging design and crane lifting analysis tasks, preferably on industrial projects • High proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Word and Excel • Ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written, and to function in a team setting
