Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity. This role involves designing and implementing process improvements, manufacturing aids, and advanced technologies to support production operations.
Job Duties:
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), to ensure consistency in manufacturing.
Utilize the ERP system for document control and process tracking.
Work with quality assurance to establish standards, conduct process audits, and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to select materials and procedures based on cost, availability, and performance.
Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
Design and implement specialized tooling and fixtures to support production and maintain quality standards.
Develop CNC programs for benders, robots, and machining centers as needed.
Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives to minimize scrap and rework.
Drive cost savings by improving processes that increase productivity.
Support labor standards development and analyze actual labor application.
Lead continuous improvement projects to optimize manufacturing methods.
Provide technical support to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and reduce downtime.
Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with health and safety regulations and contribute to workplace safety initiatives.
Design efficient workspace layouts to optimize workforce utilization, space, and workflow.
Work with planning and design teams to ensure efficient production methods align with product and tooling design.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in a discrete manufacturing environment.
Experience with assembly, CNC machining, sawing, testing, heat treating, annealing, and bending of metals (stainless steel, aluminum, brass).
Strong background in Lean Manufacturing, root cause analysis, and problem-solving.
Knowledge of ISO standards and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, DraftSight, and SolidWorks with the ability to interpret technical drawings.
Understanding of plant layouts and production workflows.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify and implement process improvements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Project.
Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
