Senior Estimator - Commercial Interiors GC (New Jersey)

We are partnered with a leading general contractor in New Jersey that specialises in high-end commercial interior projects ranging from $1M to $50M. This firm is well-established, with a strong reputation for delivering complex projects across corporate office spaces, healthcare, hospitality, and institutional sectors.
The Role
As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in the preconstruction and bidding process, working directly with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure accurate estimates and competitive proposals. You'll be responsible for takeoffs, cost analysis, bid proposals, and value engineering, ensuring project profitability while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals for projects ranging from $1M to $50M.
Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to develop accurate and competitive estimates.
Utilise industry-standard software such as On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, PlanGrid/PlanSwift, ProEst, HeavyBid, and Excel to perform accurate cost analysis.
Conduct thorough subcontractor and supplier evaluations, ensuring cost-effective pricing and adherence to project timelines.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, RFI processes, and contract negotiations to clarify scope and expectations.
Work closely with project managers and executive leadership to optimise project budgets and forecast profitability.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, material costs, and construction best practices to enhance estimating accuracy.
Maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor in the estimating and preconstruction phase.
Requirements:
7+ years of experience in estimating for commercial interiors, with a proven track record in projects between $1M and $50M.
Proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, PlanGrid/PlanSwift, ProEst, HeavyBid, and Excel.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing in commercial interior fit-outs.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret architectural and MEP drawings.
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Ability to work full-time in the office (5 days a week) in New Jersey.
Compensation & Benefits:
Base Salary: $170,000 - $210,000 (DOE)
