Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled Electrical ETOPs Specialist to support the turnover and commissioning of electrical systems for a biotech project This role focuses on taking electrical design packages and transitioning them for construction, ensuring that all aspects of electrical systems are delivered in a way that is ready for operational use. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems and experience working with the turnover and commissioning of GMP-regulated systems in a biotech manufacturing environment. The role involves coordinating with various teams, including construction, CQV, and vendors, to ensure all electrical systems are properly documented and ready for client walkdowns and final handover.

Role accountability
  • Act as the lead for the turnover of electrical design packages, ensuring all electrical systems and other electrical infrastructure, are prepared for construction and installation
  • Analyze electrical systems documents, including single line diagrams and electrical schematics, panel layouts, and CSA(civil, structural and architectural) drawings, ensuring alignment with system scope requirements.
  • Ensure that all turnover documentation, such as submittals, RFIs, drawings, specifications, and punch list data, is up-to-date and accurate for the handover process.
  • Electrical Packages associated with the ETOP include various types (Switchgear, Electrical portion of skids, Motor Control Centers)
  • Coordinate with process, automation, and facility engineers to integrate electrical systems with overall project timelines and requirements.
  • Identify and control project risks using appropriate risk management tools and engagement in contingency planning.
  • Ensure all electrical systems meet operational requirements before handover to construction teams, including systems like power distribution, emergency power systems, grounding, and cleanroom electrical infrastructure.
  • Review and verify Engineering Turnover Packages (ETOPs) for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (NEC, NFPA, ISPE) and company standards.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments and failure analysis for electrical systems, identifying any areas for improvement to minimize downtime and ensure long-term reliability.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and project engineers to ensure the successful integration and commissioning of electrical systems within the biotech facility.
  • Provide technical support for the installation and operational readiness of electrical systems, troubleshooting any issues as needed during the commissioning phase.
  • Ensure all documentation, including electrical drawings, technical specifications, and equipment manuals, are complete and up to date throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee the development and review of electrical system specifications, ensuring that all packages are in alignment with project goals and meet operational safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience working with Electrical Engineering Turnover Packages (ETOPs), particularly in biotech, pharmaceutical, or regulated industries.
  • Experience with Engineering Turnover Packages (ETOPs) for electrical systems, including switchgear, life safety systems, and other electrical infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge line diagrams, electrical schematics, panel layouts, and CSA (civil, structural and architectural) drawings as they relate to electrical systems.
  • Experience coordinating with construction teams, CQV teams, vendors, and project controls to ensure successful turnover and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Strong familiarity with NEC, NFPA, ISPE, and other relevant electrical standards for biotech/pharmaceutical environments.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliverables within a fast-paced project environment.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot electrical system issues during the turnover process.
