Job Overview: Taylor Hopkinson is partnering with a leading client in the renewable energy sector to recruit an experienced Project Manager (PM). We are looking for a skilled professional to join a dynamic team in Virginia City and manage the execution of critical projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on field project management experience, including project controls and familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Power station experience, especially with coal power stations, is highly preferred.
Work Schedule:
Regular: 5/8 or 4/10 schedule (excluding outage periods)
Overtime required during planned outage windows
Job Summary: The Project Manager will lead and support the execution of capital projects, working closely with power generation equipment such as turbines, generators, pumps, motors, control systems, and electrical/instrumentation systems. The candidate must be highly motivated, capable of working independently, and possess excellent communication skills. The role requires the ability to perform fieldwork, including working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations for all project personnel.
Manage all phases of project execution, including development, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and transition to operations.
Oversee smaller improvement projects, ensuring seamless execution from permitting to commissioning.
Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, schedules, and financial forecasts.
Administer contracts with suppliers, contractors, and vendors.
Utilize project management methodologies (e.g., PM Tollgate) to track and report on project progress.
Handle all administrative requirements related to project documentation and reporting.
Qualifications/Experience:
Proven experience in project management and leadership within the energy or industrial sectors.
Strong knowledge of power generation systems, construction practices, and pollution control equipment.
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and environmental compliance requirements.
Excellent team-building, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to plan, organize, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on quality and efficiency.
Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, engineering drawings, and reports.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
7+ years of experience in construction, engineering, or project management, with at least 3 years in a project management role.
Location: Virginia City (Hybrid work model).
