The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) is currently seeking a Manager, Diversity and Equity Programs to join its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team. The Manager supports the organization's overall efforts in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, antiracism, and health equity. This individual is responsible for implementing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategies, the planning and administration of organizational initiatives and programs, and understanding the organization's external facing work on healthy equity and diversity.
Reporting to the SVP, Communications and Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer (CDEIO), the Manager, Diversity and Equity Programs is responsible for the following:
Executes a comprehensive strategy around the organization's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs and activities, working closely with the ABIM Foundation, DEI Taskforce, Talent and Culture team, and Governance Equity Committee.
Creates educational learning opportunities for staff to deepen their understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion concepts and skills in order to become a more inclusive and equitable workplace. This work will include designing training programs and integrating the information learned into the work of the organization.
Designs, coordinates and implements the organization's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs and activities. Develops metrics for measuring the impact of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work.
Create and share information about ABIM's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work with Governance members at various meetings.
Works across departments and teams throughout the organization to support the integration of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion concepts into work while incorporating best practices and benchmarks via the Departmental Work Plan.
Coordinates work with the certification department to remove bias from the organization's assessment process.
Represents the organization at external Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion events and makes presentations on the work being done by the organization.
Coordinates, oversees and manages external consultants to ensure project objectives are met within scope, budget, and timeline. The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree (or relevant professional experience) in a related field, with a minimum of five years in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and health equity work. A background with project and program management, specifically related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, is desired. Solid experience with the healthcare industry is preferred.
The successful incumbent will have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across various functionalities. Strong facilitation skills with the detailed capacity to oversee multiple projects are necessary competencies. A mission-passionate individual with an affinity for the ABIM and the ABIM Foundation's work in diversity and health equity will thrive in this role.
This role is based in our offices at 510 Walnut Street, Philadelphia PA, with the ability to work remotely three days a week. Our technology and facility teams provide and support a seamless hybrid work environment for all employees.
