A dynamic energy firm is seeking a Trading Analyst to support its Structuring, Trading, and Analytics team. This role will focus on optimizing trading activities for operational energy assets. The selected candidate will deliver in-depth analysis to drive strategic decision-making, ensuring financial strength and competitive positioning in evolving power markets.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and refine analytical tools to assess asset performance, trading strategies, and market conditions, incorporating price forecasting and risk analysis.
Design and enhance Power BI and Python-based dashboards to monitor market exposure, contract performance, forward pricing, and asset valuations.
Conduct financial and operational risk assessments to anticipate market fluctuations and regulatory changes.
Prepare market intelligence reports, identifying risks and opportunities in key U.S. power markets.
Collaborate with internal teams to integrate market insights into trading strategies and risk management frameworks.
Monitor energy market trends and apply advanced analytics to forecast price movements and potential asset impacts.
Validate modeling assumptions and reconcile discrepancies between forecasted and actual market data.
Develop materials for risk and executive-level decision-making meetings.
Partner with IT teams to support data platform development and analytics initiatives.
Assist in procurement and management of software solutions used for market analysis and trading.
Oversee Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) tracking and trading processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in market analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment within the energy sector.
Strong proficiency in Python, Power BI, and data visualization tools.
Excellent ability to present complex market and financial data to stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Understanding of power markets and regulatory frameworks, with experience in regional electricity markets preferred.
Prior experience in renewable energy trading, asset management, or power market operations is a plus.
Familiarity with risk management strategies and trading software used in energy markets.
