To continue to strengthen its base and support its growth in the US, Midea is expanding its Research and Innovation capabilities. To support this effort the Small Appliances division (SDA) has opened a new position for a Sales Engineer at the Midea America Research Center (MARC) in Louisville, KY.

The Sales Engineer will be responsible for supporting all countertop cooking appliances including the following:
  • Air Fryers
  • Electric Grills
  • Electric Pressure Cookers
  • Slow Cookers
  • Multi-Cookers
  • Rice Cookers
  • Food Processors
  • Stand Mixers

As a key member of the Small Appliances Team, this role will support the North America sales team by providing technical support, competitive & industry analysis, attending PLRs, trade shows and customer meetings. Secondary, this role will also help to guide the decision-making of major R&D programs and issues, fueling innovation pipelines, systematically solving key consumer pain points and coordinating global activities to enhance Midea's portfolio of product offerings.

This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work, with the expectation to be in-person one week a month. Domestic and International travel will be required.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and liaison for PLRs, trade shows, customer meetings, and sales pitches
  • Understand product functionality & features across all SDA categories and be able to translate the benefits to potential customers.
  • Generate monthly sales and market data reports to inform strategic decisions and shape small domestic appliances strategy
  • Act as a technical consultant, developing working relationships with existing and incoming customers to further the Midea brand
  • Analyze sales, trends, and market data to identify opportunities for innovation. Conduct new product analysis and generate reports for R&D teams to identify opportunities for innovation
  • Perform competitive reviews and track consumer sentiment on competitive products.
  • Identify new technologies or features that resonate with consumers to diversify our product portfolio
  • Support consumer insights through location interviews, focus groups, and field tests
  • Utilize CAD software to design new prototypes and support product development
  • Create intellectual property portfolio protecting technology and innovations
  • Collaborate with R&D Leadership, Marketing, Consumer Insights, Industrial Design, Sales and Quality in developing and maintaining multi-generational technical innovation roadmap
  • Act as the voice of consumer (VOC) throughout the entire R&D process
  • Meet with customers to understand potential product offerings and associated requirements. Lead team to convert these customer needs into viable product strategies
  • Design, initiate, and lead research projects to deliver the next generation of products for the US market based on consumer insights and technology trends
  • Mentor co-op students and young engineers, fostering a culture of learning and development
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure product quality and innovation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in research and development, product development, and/or innovation in home appliances, consumer goods, or related industry
  • Bachelor's Degree or above in Engineering, or related field
  • Proven experience of translating consumer pain points into product innovation
  • 3+ years of experience in both R&D and sales engineering, or a similar role
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present market data and trends
  • Passion for innovation and customer-focused solutions
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, Creo, and other 3D CAD software
  • Domestic and international experience and multi-cultural mindset
  • Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams. Leading and coaching skills preferred
  • Excellent communication, motivation, and coordination skills
  • Goal oriented and self-managed personality with a strong entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong problem solving and risk management skills
