Job Description:

Job Purpose:

This position will be responsible for the timely and orderly flow of Small Business Administration (SBA) approved projects to closing and ultimately funding. The Closer will work in conjunction with the Closing team to meet the objectives of the group and the organization. The Closer will be required to interpret the necessary documents for loan closing from the SBA issued Terms & Conditions and then manage the process of procuring and evaluating those documents received from either our lending partner, the business owner, title company, or others. The position will require continual contact with loan closers in other financial institutions and well as business development officers internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Individual Loan Closing
  • Read, interpret, evaluate, and act upon documents used in the process of closing a commercial loan.
  • Interface with lenders, SBA, attorneys, and borrowers to ensure accurate and timely completion of loan closings.
  • Track, via database, loans in process to ensure that each stage of the process is efficiently managed.
  • Set up reports and data fields in the database that allow for tracking of deal flow and management of each stage of the process.
  • Proactively move loans through the process by setting up ticklers in the database for follow-up with client projects.
  • Work with designated attorneys to ensure that documentation is gathered that will allow for an opinion letter to be rendered.
  • Review documents received from lenders and/or borrowers to ensure that they are sufficient for loan closing.

Team and Administrative
  • Contribute to the department annual closing goal and begin to develop deeper knowledge of the 7(a) Community Advantage and 504 loan programs.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Experience closing 7(a) loans is required. 504 loan experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, analyze, problem-solve, and make sound decisions based on SBA and internally established policies and procedures.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong follow-through skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
