Position Overview:



This role is responsible for collaborating with the surgical team to ensure quality care is provided to patients. The position involves assisting the Surgeon by being well-versed in surgical procedures, instruments, supplies, and equipment.



Key Responsibilities:

• Consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care, and concern with every internal and external customer.


• Assist in the assessment, planning, and implementation of care for surgical patients.


• Demonstrate the ability to use supplies, equipment, and instruments appropriately.


• Adhere to strict aseptic techniques in both procedures and the processing of equipment and instrumentation.


• Show competence in assisting with surgical procedures.


• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety policies, regulatory requirements, quality improvement processes, and facility and departmental protocols.


• Participate in identifying and implementing improvements in the delivery of quality care.


• Respond promptly and courteously to requests for assistance from patients and staff.


• Use judgment in seeking consultation from circulating Nurses and other unit Nursing staff.


• Maintain composure and initiate emergency care as appropriate according to ACLS guidelines.


• Collaborate with team members in selecting supplies, instrumentation, and equipment needed for patient care.


• Use, protect, and disclose patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with HIPAA standards.


• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technologists.


• Current AHA - BLS Certification.
