Job Summary
Responsible for acquiring knowledge and developing the necessary skills to become a respiratory therapist. This role works with licensed respiratory therapists to expand respiratory therapy skillset.

Essential Functions
- Acquires knowledge and develops the necessary skills to become a qualified respiratory therapist- including attending lectures, participating in laboratory sessions, and studying the theory and practice of respiratory therapy.
- Observes and shadows licensed respiratory therapists in various clinical settings and gains firsthand experience on how to apply theoretical concepts to real-life patient care.
- Under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist, conducts patient assessments.
- Assists in developing and implementing respiratory care plans for patients.
- Learns how to monitor patients' responses to respiratory interventions and adjust treatments accordingly.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and other relevant documentation.

Experience
Completed prerequisite courses such as anatomy, biology, chemistry, etc. 0-1 year preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the respiratory system.
- Knowledge of respiratory therapy techniques and equipment.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to perform patient assessments and monitor patient progress.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and patient issues.
- Ability to adapt in changing situations and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
