Job Description:

The Principal Automation Engineer will oversee all aspects of computerized systems used in GMP operations, including operational technology OT and automation systems. Lead teams to deliver technical expertise and guidance to support an operational and regulated site. You will report to the Director of Engineering.



You Will:



  • Provide leadership to a technical team of automation and OT professionals, encouraging a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.


  • Support manage automation budget, negotiate contracts with service providers, and allocate resources to meet operational needs.


  • Manage relationships with contract service providers, including automation platforms, and equipment used in manufacturing, laboratories, and utilities areas.


  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize automation and OT systems and ensure alignment with operational cross-functional teams.


  • You will contribute to the configuration, installation, startup and operational readiness of all automation and Operational Technology platforms.


  • You will resolve technical issues related to computerized process equipment and control systems and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards (CSV).


  • Perform as system admin for automation systems and process equipment.


  • Provide accurate budget estimates for capital equipment and projects.


  • Support automation programs for energy management.


  • Develop and implement equipment startup and sequence of operations for facility and process-related assets.




You Have:



  • Bachelor's Degree. Technical field or Engineering field is preferred.


  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental/equipment monitoring systems, process and lab equipment automation controls, energy management systems, or other related experience.


  • Minimum of 10 years of Biopharmaceutical industry experience.


  • In-depth knowledge of GMP regulations, applicability to the management of automation and OT systems, and automation vendor oversight.


  • Experience driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.


  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage cross-functional teams and external vendors.


  • Experience implementing change management initiatives and engaging organizations in new ways of working.


  • Experience in complex project management and delivery.


  • Proficiency in system/equipment integration and networking principles within a GMP environment.


  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex system issues while adhering to GMP regulations.


  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multi-functional teams and stakeholders in a GMP environment.





Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience managing complex projects within time and budget constraints.


  • Experience with regulatory inspections and internal audits.



The annual base salary for this position ranges from $129,859.20 to $184,288.80. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
