SUMMARY



Under general supervision of the Patient Financial Services Supervisor is responsible for front end billing account functions. Responsible for work queues related to outstanding balances, referrals, non-coding related errors and claim edit errors. Provides financial counsel within established parameters to patients who have outstanding balances (e.g., setting up payment plans, options for handling unpaid balances). Acts as a resource to patients and staff regarding business processes for registration, referral and collections.





EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS




  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit required.

  • Related Associate’s degree in Business or related field preferred.





EXPERIENCE




  • Three years of healthcare registration, account or billing experience in physician office or hospital with direct patient or customer service delivery required.

  • Working knowledge of health plan coverage, types of health plans and patient billing terminology is required.

  • Working experience with patient healthcare collections is preferred.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills, strong verbal, written and telephone communication skills.

  • Attention to detail, demonstrated multi-tasking skill.

  • Demonstrated working under time pressure, juggling multiple priorities, managing deadlines.

  • Teamwork, flexibility, reliability, adaptability, able to be flexible with work schedule.

  • Strong computer skills (keyboarding, data entry and moving quickly between multiple application systems, proficient in email required.

  • Working knowledge of healthcare registration including health plan coverage and referrals, authorizations, patient balance terminology (deductible, co-pay, co-insurance) is required.

    • Working Knowledge of EPIC and EMR proficiency preferred.
