The University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for an Ophthalmic Echographer 2 for Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The Ophthalmic Echographer 2 (OE2) is proficient in the theory, principles, and practice of eye care. The position documents in the EMR system and performs ocular diagnostic examinations using ultrasound echography instrumentation in compliance with department standards.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to the below.
A-scan biometry and IOL Master
Contact/immersion A-Scan
High-resolution B-scan and standardized A-scan
Unsupervised, complex globe and orbital exams
Imaging & measuring extraocular muscles with B-scan
Keratometry
Performs ocular diagnostic examinations using ultrasound echography instrumentation, documents procedures, and uploads images in the electronic medical record/PACS system.
Provides patient-centric care. Adheres to University of Miami policies, standards, and values.
Complies with regulations and maintains patient confidentiality.
Maintains a professional appearance. Follows best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.
Completes the University of Miami mandatory in-services and online training.
Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.
Demonstrates high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness.
Meets daily productivity goals.
Performs organizational duties as assigned.
Ensures all equipment is calibrated and instrumentation is in proper working order.
Organizes and stocks rooms for daily clinical activities.
Travels to satellite eye centers when necessary.
Works evenings and weekends as needed.
Participates in assigned clinical research and maintains required certifications.
Proposes, assists, and collaborates with residents, fellows, and faculty members with research projects.
Serves as a lead when assigned.
Oversees quality assurance of the photography unit and addresses deficiencies in a timely and constructive manner.
Maintains JCAHPO certifications. Prepares and documents ultrasound findings reports.
Acts as super user for imaging technology implementations and training initiatives.
Acts as preceptor for echography team members.
Performs ultrasound evaluations under anesthesia in the OR. Assists with training of visiting ultrasound technicians, residents, fellows, and faculty members.
Supports residents, fellows, and faculty members with echography presentations.

2 years of experience in ophthalmic ultrasound, including biometry

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
