Job Description Summary
Research Specialist A:
The Research Specialist A will conduct and troubleshoot experiments pertaining to the physiology of pancreatic islets in mouse models, as well as understand general molecular biology and biochemistry in order to support the lab's research objectives. He/She/They will assist with routine laboratory duties including procurement and equipment maintenance. The position requires the daily handling of mice to ascertain weight, obtain blood samples, and genotype. He/She/They will be expected to oversee animal husbandry, as well as maintain careful tracking and record keeping of the mouse colonies. The Research Specialist will conduct experimental procedures to determine metabolite levels in blood as well as various protein and RNA expression. He/She/They will support the lab by acting as a team member in the execution of a number of experiments. Additionally, the research specialist will be expected to analyze and present data in professional "publication ready" format.
Research Specialist B:
The Research Specialist B will act in a leadership role, designing and supporting the execution of complex experiments to support the lab's research objectives. He/she/they will conduct and troubleshoot experiments pertaining to the physiology of pancreatic islets in mouse models, as well as understand general molecular biology and biochemistry in order to support the lab's research objectives. He/She/They will assist with routine laboratory duties including procurement and equipment maintenance. He/She/They will assist the Principal Investigator in overseeing workflow and productivity of lab personnel, this includes providing training when necessary. The position requires the daily handling of mice to ascertain weight, obtain blood samples, and genotype.
