The Role & The Team



The Manager, Technical Accounting and Audit/SOX Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the company's financial reporting and internal controls comply with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) requirements. This role involves researching complex accounting issues, overseeing technical accounting matters, managing the external audit process, and leading SOX compliance efforts. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with finance, operations, commercial support, IT and internal audit teams to drive excellence in financial reporting and internal controls.



Key Responsibilities




Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting



  • Complete the research, analysis, interpretation, and documentation of various technical accounting issues, new accounting pronouncements, and accounting alternatives within the GAAP framework.

  • Maintain, update records, complete account reconciliations and support schedules for assigned areas of accounting, including, but not limited to, goodwill, intangible assets, and contingent consideration.

  • Participate in the preparation of monthly and quarterly close items as assigned.

  • Collaborate with accounting to ensure appropriate implementation of and compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, procedures, and conventions.

  • Actively monitor and research FASB, SEC, PCAOB, and other regulatory agency rulemaking, evaluating the timing and impact of new rules and standards.

  • Manage the adoption of new accounting standards, including assisting in detailed implementation plans, engaging stakeholders, defining system change requirements, revising policies and procedures, satisfying auditor requirements, and facilitating change management with impacted personnel and departments.

  • Assist in the preparation of presentations to the Audit Committee, Disclosure Committee, Board of Directors, and Senior Management.

  • Provide technical accounting guidance to finance and business teams to ensure compliance with evolving accounting standards.

  • Support the finance team and Manager, SEC Reporting, in reviewing components of external financial reports, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and other SEC filings.




Audit & SOX Compliance



  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, managing audit requests and ensuring timely completion of financial statement audits, statutory audits and quarterly reviews.

  • Lead the company's SOX compliance program, ensuring effective internal controls over financial reporting in partnership with control and process owners within the Company.

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements; evaluate and ensure optimal design of internal controls over financial reporting.

  • Assess and enhance internal control processes, identifying and mitigating risks related to financial reporting and compliance.

  • Coordinate and oversee internal control testing, working closely with internal audit and business process owners.

  • Drive remediation efforts for control deficiencies and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.




Process Improvement & Stakeholder Collaboration



  • Proactively search for process improvement opportunities across technical accounting areas, identifying ways to automate reporting and accounting functions, and reducing the time required to prepare materials.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, IT, Legal, HR, Operations, Commercial Support) to enhance financial processes and strengthen control frameworks.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and compliance processes through automation and best practices.

  • Provide training and guidance on technical accounting matters and SOX compliance requirements.

  • Stay up to date with accounting and regulatory developments, communicating key updates to senior leadership.

  • Display strong written and interpersonal communication skills while being able to communicate ideas effectively and concisely to all levels of employees.

Required Qualifications




Education: Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting required; CPA and Big 4 Public Accounting experience required.



Experience: Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in technical accounting and SOX Compliance.



Knowledge:



  • Exceptional ability to interpret, apply, and document U.S. GAAP to complex business transactions.

  • Experience in the life sciences and manufacturing industries is a plus.




Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.



Soft Skills:



  • Strategic thinking and leadership experience with an emphasis on relationship management and interacting with all levels within an organization, as well as with external auditors.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.




Organizational & Leadership Skills:



  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented self-starter.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.

  • Effectively work with teams to expedite the completion of critical projects.

  • Proven track record in driving projects and process improvement initiatives.



Non-Field Based Employees are required to be onsite Monday-Thursday (Friday work from home). Depending on the role, some employees may be required to be 100% onsite.
