Grain Lab Technician I at DICKEY-john

The Grain Lab Technician I works to support TSI analytical equipment by collecting and analyzing test data and creating reference data. The person in this position will become familiar with national and international standards as related to grain moisture analysis and near infrared product analyses. Data are analyzed using basic Excel tools. Results are presented and explained to general audiences.


The Grain Lab Technician I will work with individuals throughout TSI including sales, service, marketing, design engineering, and manufacturing. In addition, this person will have occasional contact with people outside of these organizations, such as end users, distributors, and regulators. There is occasional attendance at committee and interest group meetings to gather information related to new methods and standards that relate to TSI's analytical product line.


The Grain Lab Technician I assumes a supporting technical role within the grain lab, and also involves mentoring associates within the grain lab. This person will participate in efforts to improve the work processes in the lab, improve end user instructions and guides, and identify ways to enhance data collection and analysis to improve the accuracy and reliability of the calibrations.



What Will You Do?



In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI/DICKEY-john, you will be responsible for:

• Occasionally participate in related interest groups and regulating bodies such as NCWM, USDA, and NIST, and assist in making recommendations when changes are considered that could affect DICKEY-john business needs and product performance.


• Test samples using DICKEY-john analytical products, and compare results to internal or external reference standards.


• Participate in the regular calibration of lab standards to national standards.


• Read and review national and international standards that relate to DICKEY-john analytical products.


• Perform Laboratory and Line Standard Instrument testing and normalization procedures when necessary.


• Perform reference oven analyses on all grains and commodities required for calibration development and maintenance.


• Maintain cold storage library of grain types and required commodities.


• Clean, label and prepare samples for analysis and storage.


• Maintain check samples for reference evaluations.


• Complete other assignments as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS



Required


Education


High School diploma or GED is required.


Experience


One year of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.



KNOWLEDGE



Weights and measures; data entry; identification and filing; Windows-based computers; high school level statistics; high school level spelling and grammar



Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work



This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.

Pay and Benefits:Competitive market salary from$38,000 - $45,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.Benefits include:
