Physical Requirements | This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job; working in confined spaces; and exposure to blood-borne or airborne pathogens, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, and cuts/punctures. |
Shift | Day shift,7:30am – 5:00pm. Hours and days of the week are subject to change based on the needs and growth of the department. Holiday is not currently a requirement, but always subject to change. Requires some on-call. |
Job Summary | In this position, the candidate will provide pharmaceutical care to patients requiring health care administered medications through the UK Specialty Pharmacy. Responsibilities include: Serve as the primary liaison between UK Specialty Pharmacy and UK’s infusion centers. Insure safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy is implemented for all patients in their care and monitor care appropriately. Facilitates the formulary review process for health care administered medications. Participates in appropriate hospital and/or departmental committees relevant to practice area. Responsible for supervising PharmD students, technicians, undergraduate and graduate student teaching, and providing educational programs for hospital staff. Establish safe practices for infusion therapy handling, as well as collaborating and communicating with multidisciplinary team members involved in providing services to patients. |
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; a “team” mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position. |

Preferred Education/Experience | PharmD and completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency program (or equivalent experience) preferred. |
