Job Description:
Raritan Valley Community College is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Environmental Stewardship Internship.
The Center for Environmental Studies (CES) at Raritan Valley Community College is looking for seasonal interns to assist with various activities related to environmental stewardship on campus and on public open space in New Jersey. Interns will primarily assist with the installation and maintenance of deer exclosures, removal of invasive plant species, tree planting, trail mapping and maintenance, native plant propagation and greenhouse work, and collection of monitoring data. Participation in related activities with other projects at the CES may be available depending upon intern interest and abilities.
Requirements:
Must be a current RVCC student in good academic standing or a recent graduate.
Interest and/or experience in ecology/conservation field work.
Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors under varying weather conditions for 6-8 hours/day.
Must have personal transportation and be willing to drive up to 1-2 hours to field sites, as needed.
Plant and/or animal identification skills.
Interpersonal communication skills (written and oral).
Ability to work independently and in teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in Microsoft Excel.
