The Role: Founding Frontend Engineer
We are looking for a highly skilled frontend engineer with proven early-stage startup experience (0-1 or early scaling). You will take full ownership of our React-based frontend architecture, shaping the user experience for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. This role is for a self-starter who thrives in high-impact, fast-moving environments and enjoys the challenge of building scalable, high-performance applications from the ground up.
What You'll Do
Own and evolve the frontend architecture - Ensure a seamless, high-performance, and accessible user experience.
Develop and optimize web applications - Focus on responsive design, performance, and accessibility.
Translate wireframes into polished, interactive user experiences - Collaborate closely with product and design teams.
Drive frontend technical decision-making - Choose the right frameworks, libraries, and tooling.
Implement and refine a component-based design system - Ensure consistency and maintainability.
Develop and maintain frontend testing strategies - Ensure reliability and smooth user interactions.
Partner with backend engineers - Define APIs and ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend.
Establish best practices for scalable frontend development - Lay the foundation for future engineers.
What You Bring
Must have: Proven experience in an early-stage startup (Seed to Series A).
Local SF Bay Area candidates only - This role requires in-person collaboration.
Strong frontend expertise - Proficient in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
Production experience - Built and shipped fast, responsive, and accessible web applications.
UI/UX instincts - Ability to translate complex workflows into simple, intuitive interfaces.
Technical problem-solving skills - Navigate trade-offs between performance, scalability, and UX.
State management experience - Familiarity with Redux, Zustand, Recoil, or similar.
Frontend testing - Hands-on experience with Jest, Cypress, or similar frameworks.
Bonus: Experience with design systems, performance optimization, or accessibility best practices.
