This Senior Manufacturing Engineer is strategic rather than operational and involves planning/coordination of multi-functional staff to ensure Manufacturing facilities in all geographic regions have the capacity, equipment, processes and expertise to successfully manufacture new and existing products in medium to high volumes to automotive-standard levels of quality.


This role works out of our Corporate Office, located in Mount Kisco, NY. This is a hybrid position, requiring flexibility to go into the office up to two times a week, or as needed.



Responsibilities



  • Be a primary reference contact in the corporate office for PCB processing and inspection issues.


  • Advise operational staff in Curtis Manufacturing locations worldwide on best practices including automotive level process quality, integrity, consistency and stability.


  • Carry out on-site PFMEA's and audit manufacturing processes, including 5S principles.


  • Assist with the implementation of competent metrics and SPC methodology, standardized across all manufacturing subsidiaries.


  • Ensure best manufacturing practices, processes and equipment are consistently specified and optimally employed throughout all Curtis manufacturing organizations.


  • Specify and justify new equipment, negotiate pricing and drive through the internal approval process. Ensure all new equipment specified and purchased is installed correctly, optimally implemented, and that it ultimately accomplishes its technical and commercial objectives.


  • Monitor and follow up on root cause analyses and corrective actions assigned to manufacturing organizations. Ensure they are completed in a timely manner, are complete, and have high integrity. Recommend external analyses if warranted.


  • Participate in New Product Development teams and provide detailed manufacturability reviews for new products tailored to the competences of the target manufacturing location.


  • Provide projected costs for the manufacture of new products, and projected total cost differentials for products transferred between facilities.


  • Identify and implement automated methods of test and inspection to ensure the highest possible levels of quality in our PCB assemblies. That includes the use of AOI, SPI, Xray and other methodologies.




  • Frequently visit manufacturing organizations and actively identify and pursue productivity, cost and quality improvements. Ensure that lessons learned at each manufacturing organization are effectively transferred to others.


  • Evaluate and improve on component and sub assembly handling, processing and storage in order to adequately protect product assemblies through the manufacturing process, including protection against ESD.


  • Identify, and in conjunction with HR, co-ordinate training in equipment, processes and techniques in each facility.


  • Replace traditional production lines with modern demand based production techniques in conjunction with local Manufacturing Engineers. Employ Lean Manufacturing methods throughout all manufacturing functions.


  • Physically oversee and provide guidance on pre-production and pilot builds.


  • Lead all activities associated with RoHS compliance.


  • Standardize on the format of Manufacturing and related documentation such as operating procedures, test procedures, costing sheets, DFM studies etc.


  • Assist in the preparation of annual capital budgets for each manufacturing facility.


  • Promote perfect housekeeping in all facilities (5S).

Requirements




Education



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.



Experience



  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a modern electronics manufacturing environment.


  • Detailed knowledge of PCB assembly manufacturing concepts, techniques and equipment.


  • Leading and implementing process improvement measures via new process and/or equipment technologies, from identification phase through serial production validation.


  • Product design and/or automotive manufacturing experience an advantage.



Skills & Competencies



  • Strong Project Management and organizational skills, and the drive to take full responsibility for projects and problems in cross functional groups.


  • Strong ability to communicate at all levels within the organization, including to overseas employees speaking English as a second language, accommodating cultural differences and sensitivities.


  • Strong ability to seek timely closure to complex projects.


  • Excellent ability to influence and manage cross functional resource without direct reporting.


  • Excellent computer skills







  • Work Mode: Hybrid 3 days in office



  • Work Location: 200 Kisco Ave Mount Kisco, NY 10549



  • Travel will be required, in the US as well as overseas and in manufacturing facilities once to two times a year.




The salary range for this position $115,000-$130,00.The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
