An excellent opportunity has arisen within Core engineering for a bearings, pumps and seals Design Engineer. The Design Engineer will provide engineering support to various technology programs and integrated project teams across the Defense business. The successful candidate will ensure that processes and methods are accurate, understood and consistently applied throughout the business via coaching of deployed engineers.

Key Accountabilities:
Provide technical coaching, training, and written guidance to deployed engineers
Maintain, improve and develop in-house analysis tools and associated guidance materials
Support review and maintenance of site technology strategies, and actively participate in technology development programs
Execute engineering analysis for bearings (calculate of bearing life, contact stress, heat generation), seals (TBD) and pumps (windage, sizing, attitude)
Provide engineering support of safety, development and/or service-related issues as they relate to bearing, seal, lubrication, and pumps
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years of design experience, Or
Master's Degree Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 3+ years of design experience
Experience designing large structural components and sub-systems, including functional knowledge of relevant materials, structural analysis, and services routing
Experience using computer aided design tools such as Siemens NX
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and the creation of limit stacks
Experience with generic design processes as well as component specific design guidance
Familiarity with structural component manufacturing processes including castings
To be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with gas turbine bearings, seals and pumps
Familiarity working with whole engine loading and analysis
Experience with the rolling element bearing design codes SHABERTH, AB Jones, and/or CYLFLEX
Technology development experience
Programming skills such as Visual Basic, Python, PERL, C++ and/or computational tools such as Matlab
Good interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment; willingness to accept responsibility and take initiative; and drive to finish assigned tasks on schedule
An excellent command of the English language for both written and oral communications
