We are seeking a Mechanical Technical Director to join our expanding Energy Team at one of the following Pond offices: Peachtree Corners, GA; Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX; or Denver, CO.
The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of relevant experience and a strong background in mechanical engineering across industries such as oil & gas, aviation fuel systems (military and commercial), power delivery, renewables, and utilities.
This role offers an opportunity to lead and mentor a dynamic team of professionals while contributing to multi-disciplinary projects for global clients. The successful candidate will also engage in client interactions and support proposal development.
Project Engineering & Management
Oversee and lead multi-disciplinary engineering projects from concept to completion.
Coordinate with Project Management and Engineering Leads to establish and maintain timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Lead cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution and project success.
Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring timely and quality project delivery.
Conduct and lead engineering and design coordination meetings, providing technical updates to Project Managers and clients.
Track and document project action items, decisions, risks, and potential change notices.
Technical Leadership & Execution
Lead the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions.
Provide technical guidance and ensure industry's best practices in design, development, and execution.
Solve complex engineering challenges with innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
Develop and review equipment data sheets, contractor bids, and shop drawings.
Generate engineering fee estimates, provide field support during construction, and prepare technical reports.
Team Mentorship & Development
Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers to enhance their skills and technical expertise.
Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation within the team.
Provide constructive feedback and coaching to enhance overall team performance.
Assist in hiring and onboarding new team members to support team growth.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for clients.
Understand client needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Maintain client satisfaction through clear communication and project execution.
Identify business development opportunities to drive company growth and innovation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
15+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
Strong leadership and mentoring experience.
Excellent communication skills for client and stakeholder interactions.
Ability to balance technical work with strategic thinking and team leadership.
Strong collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Self-motivated with a strong commitment to high-quality work.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for site assessments, training, and project support as required.

Additional Information
Many factors are considered when determining compensation at Pond, including scope and level of position, geographic location, candidate skill, knowledge and experience. Starting base pay may vary depending on these factors. We anticipate filling this position as a Mechanical Technical Director with a salary range of $137,500.00 - $225,900.00 .
