MANUFACTURING SUMMER CAMP INSTRUCTOR

Part Time

Blong Technology Center, Davenport, IA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

EICC is seeking a dedicated and experienced instructor to lead our manufacturing summer camps for students in grades 4-9. This role involves teaching various hands-on STEM activities designed to inspire and educate young minds about manufacturing processes and technologies.

The Camp schedule is flexible dependent on the instructor, but ideally would be weekdays, for example Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in the manufacturing field.
  • Prior experience working with youth, preferably in an educational or camp setting.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Passion for teaching and sharing knowledge in STEM fields.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The teacher must see and hear on a continuous basis, as well as speak frequently. Positions may vary from standing, sitting, or walking. On a rare occasion, it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc.

SALARY:

Starting at $25 hourly.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in designing and developing engaging lesson plans and activities for various manufacturing topics, including hydraulics, solar power, soldering, and robotics.
  • Ensure the curriculum is age-appropriate and aligns with educational standards.
  • Teach students through hands-on projects.
  • Provide clear instructions and demonstrations to help students understand complex manufacturing concepts.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Manage classroom behavior and ensure the safety of all students during activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assess student projects and ensure they meet learning objectives.
  • Work with other instructors and camp staff to coordinate activities and share resources.
  • Prepare materials and equipment needed for each class.
  • Set up and clean up classroom spaces before and after sessions.
  • Commit to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of students and internal/external stakeholders.
