Job Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Abudayyeh-Gootenberg lab is looking to hire a technical associate for working with a dynamic team of postdoctoral associates and graduate students on cutting edge projects in gene and cell therapy. The technical associate will be focused on a variety of bioengineering projects, including engineering gene editing proteins, delivery vectors, and RNAs for a variety of gene and cell therapy applications. In collaboration with other members of the research team, they will give input to the design, development, and execution of specific protocols. They will also analyze and interpret data using statistical techniques and other approaches. May be responsible for orienting and training new staff. Working very independently, under general supervision, they will lead parts of assigned projects using a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level.
Beyond research responsibilities, candidate will work with the lab manager to assist with lab operations, including but not limited to inventory management, lab safety standards, and animal protocol management.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Independently performs routine and non-routine experiments, which are moderate to complex. Experiments may include molecular cloning, tissue culture, liquid chromatography, animal work, general molecular biology techniques, and sequencing.
2. Work as part of a team in the lab to accomplish project goals.
3. Responsible for analyzing and interpreting data for pushing one or multiple projects forward.
4. Maintains long-term tissue cultures of human cell lines and monitors cells for viability and contamination.
5. Performs literature searches and helps to prepare presentations and written articles for publication.
6. In collaboration with PI and supervisors, establishes new and modifies existing research techniques.
7. With lab manager, coordinating lab operations, such as biosafety protocols and inventory management.
8. Assists in the orientation and training of new staff.
9. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in biological/life sciences degree.
Must have at least one-year experience in a directly related research setting (including undergraduate experience).
