Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator- School of Social Work

The Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing recruitment and admissions activities for the Bachelor of Social Work program in the School of Social Work. This role works closely with the Director of Recruitment and Admissions, the Director of Student Affairs, and other team members to ensure a seamless process from recruitment to admission. The Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator supports the School's mission by engaging prospective students, managing admissions procedures, and maintaining accurate records.
Duties and Responsibilities
Recruitment and Outreach
- Provide input on the development and implementation of the annual recruitment strategy for undergraduate program in partnership with the Director of Recruitment and Admissions. This includes both in-person and virtual recruitment activities targeting prospective students.
- Plan, coordinate, and represent the School of Social Work at recruitment events such as campus fairs, information sessions, community college visits, and virtual open houses. Facilitate outreach efforts to high schools, community colleges, and professional organizations to promote the School's programs.
- Collaborate with the Communications Office to create recruitment materials, website content, and marketing campaigns aimed at prospective students. Implement the annual communication plan for recruitment, including managing targeted emails, social media posts, and other outreach efforts.
- Maintain recruitment databases and tools to track prospective student engagement, application conversion rates, and recruitment outcomes. Provide regular updates and reports to the Director of Recruitment and Admissions to inform strategy adjustments.
Admissions Coordination
- Serve as the first point of contact for application processing, including receiving applications, checking for completeness, and ensuring all required documents are submitted.
- Forward completed applications to the appropriate admissions committees and program directors for review.
- Work with the Director of Recruitment and Admissions and the Admissions Committee to coordinate application reviews, including scheduling review meetings, facilitating discussions on application decisions, and ensuring timely communication with applicants.
- Manage communication with prospective and current applicants, providing information on admissions requirements, application status, and next steps. Send out acceptance, waitlist, and denial letters under the guidance of the Director of Recruitment and Admissions.
- Assist in administering admissions policies for both undergraduate and graduate programs, ensuring they are consistently applied throughout the admissions process. Provide input on policy revisions in consultation with program directors, the Director of Student Affairs, and the Recruitment and Admissions Committee.
Event Planning and Student Transition Support
- Assist with planning and implementing orientation events for new students in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Collaborate with the Director of Student Affairs to ensure that students receive the necessary information and resources to begin their academic journey.
- Organize Admitted Student Days and other recruitment-focused events to engage accepted students, provide them with program insights, and facilitate connections with faculty and current students.
- Coordinate campus tours and information sessions for prospective and admitted students, ensuring they receive a comprehensive introduction to the School of Social Work's programs, faculty, and facilities.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain databases related to admissions, including applicant tracking systems and student records. Ensure data accuracy for reporting on admissions trends, recruitment outcomes, and yield rates.
- Generate reports on recruitment and admissions activities for use by the Director of Recruitment and Admissions, program directors, and other stakeholders. Contribute data to support annual reports, accreditation reviews, and strategic planning efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field. Two (2) years of work experience in higher education, marketing or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Social Work or related field. Two (2) years of experience in recruitment.

- Highly developed customer relations skills.
- Commitment to working with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
- Able to work independently, under minimal supervision, and as part of a team.
- Experience using Slate.
- Ability to work occasionally outside of traditional hours.
- Ability to travel. Thorough and dependable, attention to detail.
- Possesses flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The budgeted salary range for the position is $55,000 - $65,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position. This position will be expected to work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus on a full-time basis per the University's Workplace Flexibility policy.
