GHD's Highways Roads Bridges (HRB) Business Group (BG) is a major pillar of our overall transportation market offerings, that also include Maritime and Coastal, Rail and Transit, and Mobility and Places. Our HRB practice is delivering work for key transportation agencies, counties, and municipalities across the West. Projects include highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails / active transportation, bridges, and other related community mobility related improvements. GHD has engagement with these opportunities through the Federal, State, Municipal, and private sectors.
Our Southern California Team, has an excellent opportunity for a Project Director- Highways/Roads/Bridges. This is the person assigned by GHD to provide mentorship and guidance to the project managers PMs. The Project Director (PD), implores and supports the PM to account for the performance of the project team through adherence to the contract and GHD delivery requirements. The PD Represents the client's interests to the project team and represents GHD's interests to the client. You will work closely with our highly skilled multi-disciplinary teams throughout the organization as we help our clients efficiently deliver projects and provide high value consultancy services.

Key responsibilities include:
Clients:
Understand the client's expectations and help manage the client interface
Lead strategy for opportunity pursuits and development of capture plans
Lead strategy for development of and review of proposals (qualifications, approach, scope, schedule, and the financial offer)
Accountable for the delivery of the project to the client's expectations and requirements
Manage client expectations regarding project time, cost, quality, and client contact frequency
Solicit feedback regularly on GHD's performance on contracts with them and future opportunities.
People:
Provide leadership , coaching, and mentoring to the Project Manager and team, in line with GHD's core values focusing on regular one on one discussions
Review and approve the Project Plan including scope, schedule, budgeted hours and application of our quality program
Support the Project Manager to secure and retain project resources, both internal and external.
Manage the handover between project phases and changes of Project Manager or team members
Build effective relationships with Client, Market Leaders, Operations Managers, Business Group Leaders, Client Relationship Managers, Service Line Leaders, our Program Management Office and other key personnel
Promote timeliness, communication, safety culture and environmental awareness on your assigned portfolio of projects
Routinely account for project performance reviews in GHD electronic systems and with key operations and business development staff
Performance:
Maintain forward look with Project Manager to identify and manage risks and opportunities on projects
Review Project Manager's assessment of forecast cost to complete
Review invoice template and approve variations
Resolve client concerns regarding proposed variations and invoicing
Obtain Limits of Authority approval for future unavoidable Project cost overruns
Accountable for deliverables meeting client expectations
Accountable for project Quality, HSE, and IMS performance
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Master's Degree considered a plus.
Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California preferred
15+ years of experience with solid technical knowledge and skills across the transportation & municipal engineering, including a strong background in planning & design; construction experience a plus.

Salary Range: $138,000-$207,000 based on experience
